Ediciones Espiral Eterna

Since the later years of the 1970s, the music of Leo Brouwer was variously published by Max Eschig, Ricordi (Universal Music), Schott, Gendai, Transatlantiques, Music Sales Classical (Chester Music Ltd.), Doberman Yppan, among others. More than a decade ago, Maestro Brouwer initiated the project of creating his own publishing enterprise, in the first place due to the need, as a creator, to self-manage his own work, something perhaps more common among artists of the 21st Century. Ediciones Espiral Eterna (Eternal Spiral Publishers) was born in April 2005 in Maestro Bouwer´s native Havana, and, since its very beginning, has been headed by Isabelle Hernandez, the biographer and manager of Maestro Brouwer. The name of the publishing house comes from La Espiral Eterna (The Eternal Spiral ) for guitar, an essential work in the world history of the final phase of the Vanguard of the 70s.

Our editions have the advantage of the constant supervision of the composer, in charge of the final version of each published sheet-music. We are dedicated exclusively to the editing and publishing of Brouwer´s music and have a catalogue with 6 sections: Choral Music, Chamber Music, Orchestral Music, Piano, Guitar, and Facsimile. Our activities also include the production and sale of recordings, videos, documentaries, and all types of audiovisual aides concerned with the artistic work of Maestro Brouwer. At the same time, we are working towards the restoration, digitalization, and conservation of his manuscripts and other original documents included in the archives of this institution; these include a great variety of documents ranging from the epistolary, photographs, books , pamphlets, excerpts from published periodical and other literature, and even a collection of his guitars, a discography of his music that includes more than 750 entries, and, of course, musical manuscripts both published and unpublished. Our catalogue is available in Spain, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Argentina, and the United States. Ediciones Espiral Eterna (Eternal Spiral Publishers) protects the composer´s work and disseminates it world-wide.
